Legal Aid
You could be eligible for help with your legal costs
You might be having difficulty finding a family lawyer that accepts legal aid clients nowadays. Ebborn Law will undertake all family court matters under legal aid except in the case of relationship property disputes.
Why is is hard to find a Legal Aid lawyer?Recent changes to the way legal aid grants are paid have meant many law firms have chosen to cease providing this service. Prior to the 23rd of July 2012, legal aid family matters were paid on an hourly rate.
Today, the grant for legal aid is paid as a fixed fee for set tasks. There is also a lot of administrative and contractual requirements for lawyers to be granted a contract with the Ministry of Justice (and rightly so, it is taxpayer money after all!). How do I Apply for a Legal Aid Grant? You don't need to apply for legal aid, we can do that for you. Just call us on 03 339 2233 and ask for a callback from one of our support staff. We'll book a time that suits you and send you a letter along with a form to complete. Bring that form with you to the appointment, along with proof of income and assets, and we'll do the rest!
Once your grant for legal aid has been approved (this usually takes a few days) we'll set you up with an appointment with one of our lawyers. |
How Does Ebborn Law Still Provide a Legal Aid Service? At Ebborn Law we approach things a bit differently. Our business philosophy is based around being as efficient as possible.
We use our own patented technology to securely manage your information, and to provide you with timely service. |
