How much will it cost me?
Litigation is expensive not just in money, but also in time. We thoroughly recommend you try and resolve issues outside of Court and without the use of lawyers if you can do so.
If that is not an option, then for a typical Care of Children Act matter you can expect it to cost around $10,000 and take a year. Other types of matter (such as Paternity or Adoption) could cost less, depending on the circumstances (it's very hard to generalise about these things!).
We are committed to making justice accessible to everyone, and part of that is to provide transparent prices. It benefits you and it benefits us for two main reasons:
Our fees have been carefully designed to represent the best value for you, taking into account the quality and experience you are receiving by engaging Ebborn Law. We even let you do some of the work, if you have the time and patience. Check out these four options:

Fixed fee pricingWe feel it is only right that people who use a lawyer know how much it will cost up-front. This is called 'value billing'. These prices are fixed, and include GST, but do not include some additional fees charged by the Court or external providers (such as for a paternity test). Click here for our price list (via our sister site Portia.Law).
In most cases we require a minimum payment of $300 up-front, which will be deposited into a trust account. We accept all major credit cards and have EFTPOS on site, but due to AML/CFT risk requirements we can not accept cash. |
Fixed fees mean certaintyEngaging a lawyer can be expensive, but the alternative can lead to even greater expense down the track or missing out on access to children or property that you might otherwise have received.
One of the things people want most from their lawyer is a clear indication of how much their case will cost. All lawyers must provide an indication of how much they think a matter might cost when requested, but that is an indicative figure only. Our fees and your options are fully explained in the Scope of Work and Terms of Engagement you will receive at the time of your initial appointment with a Legal Response Team lawyer. Our Fixed fee prices don't include variables such as Court filing fees or charges from external providers, but they do include GST! |
